Out of project Campus Dérives (see here) rose think.material Press, a new modest-print arm of the Centre for Material Thinking. Campus Dérives, a psychogeographical series of seven investigative-walking sessions targeting Aberystwyth University’s campus, spawned an accidental wee pamphlet. We wanted to arrange its publication ourselves, & also welcome the opportunity for further publications of a similar nature.
think.material Press is run by aim king and Amy Grandvoinet as a low-effort (speaking permaculturally) development, a infrastructural means through which printable matter might be ad-lib-ly assembled here and there to occasionally produce delicious treat(ise)s. Our mission is to provide a reasonably-organised foundation from which a few projects might find communicative outlet via the medium of paper-and-ink in a very digitised era. We use external printing services, local and non-local, and are keen to expand our collaboration profile.
We have exhibited our papier productions so far at Spineless Wonders x Aberystwyth School of Art’s collaborative show in 2025. We will also be part of Capel Bethel’s ‘Agor Llyfr: Open a Book’ expanded artists’ books exhibition in 2026 celebrating Aberystwyth’s status as a UNESCO City of Literature.
Plz contact ack5@aber.ac.uk & akg4@aber.ac.uk if you’ve interest to work with us, jumping into and expanding the Centre for Material Thinking’s print-culture network.

SBAEN (2025)

A smattering of musings on themes of ‘Sbaen’, Welsh for the Mediterranean country named ‘Spain’ in English, and ‘spine’, which its somewhat pronounced like, as in the bone-conglomeration of backs, of books, of human dispositions, et cetera. ‘Sbaen’ & ‘Spain’ are reminiscent of what’s referred to as ‘false friends’ – they sound alike but have no relation. Yet, in what ways do these linguistic signs overlap? We consider. Featuring work by aim king, Alex Hubbard, Amy Grandvoinet, Bella Milne, Caitlin Shepherd, Charlotte Bulling, Heledd Wyn, Joshua Jones, Kristiana Dzenite, Lily Fileman, Louie Taylor, M K Lord, Poppy Wilson, Purplish Laila, Rakyah Assam, Ruth Hogg, Thom Hamer.
